& Materials
Inkless coding, marking and decoration across packaging and production
DataLase technology enables high-quality, permanent marking without inks, labels or additional consumables. Designed to integrate seamlessly into existing production environments, our solutions deliver consistent, high-speed performance across a wide range of applications and materials.
Applications & Solutions
DataLase solutions are engineered to perform where traditional marking technologies struggle – delivering precision, permanence and efficiency across modern packaging operations.
Because DataLase integrates with standard laser systems and existing production lines, it offers a practical route to improved efficiency, reduced costs and stronger sustainability performance.
Date Coding & Batch Marking
Reliable, high-speed coding for production lines, eliminating inks and ribbons while maintaining consistent quality.
Variable Data & Serialisation
Apply unique identifiers, QR codes and traceability data directly at the point of packaging, supporting full supply chain visibility.
Branding & Decoration
Create high-contrast graphics, logos and design elements directly on-pack without additional print processes.
Anti-Counterfeiting & Security Marking
Enhance product protection with permanent, tamper-resistant marks that support authentication and traceability.
Sustainable Packaging Initiatives
Support the transition to label-free and low-impact packaging formats by removing consumables and reducing waste.
Coating Technologies
Laser-reactive coatings for flexible and rigid packaging
DataLase coatings enable packaging materials to react to laser energy, creating precise, high-contrast marks from an invisible layer applied during the converting or printing process. Available as water-based, solvent-based and UV-curable formulations, our coatings are:
-
Compatible with common industrial laser wavelengths
-
Suitable for a wide range of flexible and rigid packaging formats
-
Designed for consistent, high-speed production environments
By incorporating coatings into standard production processes, manufacturers can:
- Eliminate inks, ribbons and labels from coding operations
- Improve line efficiency and uptime
- Maintain excellent code quality across substrates
From paperboard and labels to flexible films and specialist materials, DataLase coatings provide a versatile solution for modern packaging requirements—including label-free applications.
Pigment Technologies
Built-in laser functionality for inks, coatings and plastics
DataLase pigments enable laser-reactive functionality to be embedded directly into inks, coatings and plastic materials. Based on proprietary chemistry, they enable colour changes, such as colourless-to-white, colourless-to-black and white-to-black, when exposed to laser energy.
This allows coding, marking and decoration to be applied without inks at the point of imaging.
Compatible with:
- Water-based systems
- Solvent-based systems
- UV-curable formulations
- Masterbatch integration for plastics
Masterbatch Additives
Embedded coding within plastic materials
DataLase Masterbatch Additive enables laser coding to be integrated directly into plastic products during the manufacturing process. By embedding functionality at the material level, it eliminates the need for labels, inks and surface-applied coatings. Suitable for extrusion and injection moulding processes, it delivers permanent, high-contrast, tamper-proof codes that support traceability and product security.
-
Pigment Technology
Proprietary DataLase pigment technology enables laser-reactive functionality.
-
Integrated into Masterbatch
The pigment is blended into the masterbatch carrier during the compounding process.
-
Manufactured into Product
The masterbatch is used in standard extrusion or injection moulding to create the plastic product.
-
Laser Marking Process
A CO₂ laser interacts with the additive in the plastic, creating a high-contrast, permanent mark.
-
Permanent Built-in Code
The code is part of the material itself – tamper-proof, durable and traceable.
- No labels, inks or consumables
- Coding built into the material itself
- Tamper-resistant and permanent marking
- Supports recyclable and label-free packaging
- Ideal for high-volume plastic production
- Bottles, caps and closures
- Rigid plastic packaging
- Flexible plastic films
- Pharmaceutical and medical components
