High on the agenda for release in the second half of 2020 was our masterbatch additive for plastics integration. Launched in October as a DataLase VAReLase⢠Pigment Solutions initiative, the additive was optimised specifically for extrusion and injection plastic moulding to provide unsurpassed product stability and excellent quality.
Being added directly into the masterbatch to provide consistent high quality, high contrast, permanent black-on-white coding, the pigment can be incorporated into a wide range of plastics, including food & beverage, home and personal care, pharmaceutical, medical and industrial extruded products.
As expected, the additive provides all the normal sustainability benefits associated with the laser coding and marking process, including the elimination of labels, consumable and waste. It can also help streamline supply chains by reducing packaging.
Demonstrating a range of efficiency benefits, the additive can help reduce unscheduled downtime, ensure minimal preventative maintenance and guarantee less frequent fume extraction filter changes. Being already integrated into the extruded plastic, manufacturers will be able to enhance brand integrity by providing SKU traceability and permanent coding that is tamper proof, anti-counterfeit and impossible to remove. The additive can also assist in improving packaging design by removing unsightly ablation areas, while being able to be printed anywhere on the packaging with high precision.
The masterbatch additive is a clear example of how DataLase is constantly finding innovative ways to provide manufacturing and production environments with efficiency and environmental benefits, while also helping them prepare for future unexpected risk events and situations.
